Performance as is, Performing with Yoonsik Chico Park

Performance as is, Performing with Yoonsik Chico Park moves from thinking about performance to thinking through it—using the body, space, gesture, and relationality as sites for inquiry. Building on our first Maktaba session’s exploration of performance studies, this seminar invites participants to collectively examine how theories of performance can be tested and embodied.

Through a combination of discussion, readings, and performance-based activities, participants will move between theory and practice, translate ideas into gestures, actions, scores, interactions, and durational exercises, as well as explore how meaning is created through the act of performing.

The seminar will culminate in a series of shared exercises that invite participants to leave their mark through performance—individually and collectively—while reflecting on what performance can reveal, disrupt, or make possible within our social and cultural contexts.

Lunch will be provided, offering participants the opportunity to continue their conversations.
