Everything Is Whimsical: A Creative Workout with Mouza Al Hamrani

Everything Is Whimsical is a creative workout designed to bring the fun back into art-making. Led by illustrator and multimedia artist Mouza Al Hamrani, the session is built on a simple idea: art doesn't have to be serious to be good, and giving yourself permission to make something odd, just because you enjoy making it, might be exactly what your practice needs.

You'll start with a quick worksheet pulling out the things you genuinely enjoy. No overthinking and no expectations.

From there, you'll pick two of your favorites and mash them together into something entirely new, working hands-on with a table full of materials, some familiar, some delightfully unexpected. If you get stuck, a deck of prompt cards is on hand to nudge you sideways. The session closes with a mini exhibition of everyone's creations, a small museum of things that didn't exist two hours earlier.

There's no pressure to make something impressive, just make something fun!

About the Instructor

Mouza Al Hamrani is an illustrator and multimedia artist based in Ajman, UAE. Her practice is rooted in a childlike fascination, shaped by her experiences as an adult. She often explores themes related to the human condition, existentialism, Khaleeji pop culture, and our digital presence. Al Hamrani’s work is visually energetic while carrying sarcastic and often serious undertones. Having begun her career as an illustrator, Mouza has recently ventured into digital art and installation. Al Hamrani held her first solo exhibition in 2024, titled Homepage, and has also shown work in a number of group exhibitions, including Breaking Khaleeji Cultural Myths in Kuwait City, Arab Animation at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, Sikka Art and Design Festival, Jameel Art Center’s Youth Takeover, and Community and Critique: Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship Cohort 7 Show. She holds a B.Sc. in Multimedia Design from Zayed University in Dubai. Al Hamrani was born in 1995 and works between Sharjah and Ajman
