Bows have been dressing up the world for centuries. During the Roman Empire, they adorned gifts, clothing, even soldiers' armor, growing more elaborate over time as signals of thoughtfulness, wealth, and status. This workshop, led by maker Zara Peters, brings that centuries-old tradition into the present day and embraces simple, hands-on joy. Guided by Zara, you'll start with a trip to the souq to choose your own fabric, then you’ll move into the full arc of bow-making, from construction to showing off your finished piece. Along the way, Zara shares her own history as a maker and mender, as well as a quick tour through the bow's long history as an object of adornment. The session closes with a show and tell, and a shared reflection on what it means to make something purely for the joy of it. By the end of the day, you'll leave with a giant bow and a 421 Artist Kit with everything you need to keep threading and making at home. Accessibility & Participation No prior experience required.
