421 Family Day!

Special Event

Join us for 421 Family Day, a playful and interactive program for families to explore, experiment, and create together at 421 Arts Campus. This edition invites participants to engage with our Spring season’s themes through tactile stations, collaborative activities, and imaginative exercises.

Families will move across the campus, discovering different ways to interact with our spaces. Each activity encourages observation, experimentation, and storytelling, allowing children and adults to translate what they see into their own creative expressions. Through this hands-on approach, visitors will engage deeply while sharing the experience with one another.

Activities include collaborative art-making, storytelling prompts, and interactive stations inspired by the Spring season. Each station is open-ended, playful, and designed to spark curiosity, reflection, and creativity for participants of all ages.

Accessibility & Participation

Open to families with children of all ages.

Studio Play

Sound & Vibration Floor

Step into an immersive sensory experience where sound meets movement. The Sound & Vibration Floor invites families to explore how music, rhythm, and vibrations can be felt through the body as well as heard. Participants will jump, step, and dance across interactive surfaces that respond to touch with light, sound, and vibration encouraging curiosity, coordination, and playful discovery.

Salt Landscapes

Children explore shifting “desert” and “sea” terrains using fine and coarse salt, discovering texture through touch and movement. With shells, stones, and small figures, they can draw, trace, and create paths or waves only to watch them gently disappear and begin again. This calming, open-ended play invites reflection on fragile ecosystems and the fleeting nature of stories, where every mark is temporary and constantly changing.

Shell Whispers

A quiet, immersive space where children explore the gentle sounds and textures of shells. Through touch, listening, and soft storytelling, they are invited to imagine the “whispers” carried across sea and shore—stories held, shared, and transformed. This sensory experience encourages calm, curiosity, and a deeper connection to nature, where even the smallest object can hold a world of meaning.

Build Your Island (Archipalego Play)

Each child becomes an island, shaping their own small world using sand, clay, or cardboard. As islands emerge, they are gently connected through strings, drawn routes, or imagined waters, forming a shared archipelago. Through playful prompts like “Who visits your island?” and “What stories travel?”children explore connection, movement, and storytelling, discovering how individual voices come.

Studio Play is open for your toddlers and little explorers!

The following programs are open for all ages, including teenagers and youth, each offering a translation from our Spring season!

Studio 2

Message in a Dow

A creative storytelling journey inspired by traditional dhows and sea routes. Families are invited to send and receive “messages in bottles” or crafted scrolls carried through a symbolic dhow-inspired setting. Each message can hold a drawing, a wish, or a short story, passing between participants like waves across the sea.

Studio 3

Puppet Gossip Theatre

A playful storytelling experience where tales change hands and change meaning. In this interactive puppet theatre, participants are invited to create their own puppets and to later pass stories from one puppet to another, watching how each character reshapes the narrative in unexpected ways.

The Meeting Room

SOUND WAVE ART

An interactive creative station where sound becomes visual art. Families experiment with voice, rhythm, and everyday sounds to generate wave patterns, drawings, or textured prints that reflect vibration and frequency. Through playful exploration, participants discover how sound travels and transforms, turning invisible waves into colorful, expressive artworks that capture movement, energy, and emotion.

Studio 1

Throughout studio 1, families can enjoy a curated selection of art and visual books provided by Early Starters, drop-in read-alouds of Colorful Leaps, or simply grab a book and read as a family, sit by Auro Cafe, have lunch or a coffee, and be together.

The Reading Room

Catered lunch will be provided in the Reading Room from 11:30 AM.
