Sheikh Zayed: A Century of Memories by Lest We Forget

The exhibition and companion book, celebrate the centennial of the birth of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918-2004), the Founder and first President of the the United Arab Emirates. The exhibition displayed personal objects of remembrance shared by people who’s lives were elevated by Sheikh Zayed. Precious objects and photographs associated with Sheikh Zayed filled the Founder’s Memorial during the final week of ‘The Year of Zayed.’ The companion book contains one hundred reproductions of these items along with associated memories.

Lest We Forget is an innovative archival and research initiative that documents Emirati vernacular cultural memory and generates contemporary responses through the use of artistic language. Lest We Forget collaborates with individuals, families and communities to create artistic books, exhibitions, films, animations, product designs and even an opera.
