Comb by Lest We Forget

Combing hair is an aspect of intangible Emirati adornment with Bedouin roots. Bedouin men and women combed their long hair with combs that had a few, strong teeth. The design of this comb was inspired by wooden combs used locally during the 1950s and 1960s.

Lest We Forget is an innovative archival and research initiative that documents Emirati vernacular cultural memory and generates contemporary responses through the use of artistic language. Lest We Forget collaborates with individuals, families and communities to create artistic books, exhibitions, films, animations, product designs and even an opera.
