Sharpen your creative edge in this hands-on carving workshop, led by 'It Starts Where It Ends' exhibiting artist Ana Escobar Saavedra. Through her expert guidance, you will experiment with shaping, texturing, and detailing techniques that give carved forms real depth and character. Carving is a slow craft! This workshop is designed to build your skills and confidence, without the pressure to complete a final piece. Tools, equipment, and material options are provided. You are welcome to bring a small piece of material you would like to carve, and the instructor will see if it works with the tools available. Please avoid fancy clothing, as things might get messy. No loose sleeves or dangling jewelry, and keep hair tied back. Closed-toe shoes are a must for safety. No prior experience needed, this workshop encourages art lovers ages 11 and above to join in!
This workshop is 60 AED per participant. Instructor: Ana Escobar Saavedra Ana Escobar Saavedra is a cross-disciplinary artist working on the frontiers of art and craft. Originally from Colombia, she has lived and worked in Italy and France for 16 years before establishing herself in the UAE in 2020. With expertise in textiles and metalsmithing, her practice explores the deep connections between people and objects, reflecting on themes of existence, identity, migration, and life’s rituals. She holds an MA in Visual Arts, specializing in Object, Jewellery, and Material Culture. |
