‘Community and Critique: SEAF 2017/2018 Cohort 5’ gathers the body of work created by 15 UAE-based artists during their year-long engagement in the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF) program. This year’s participants are Abdulghanni Al Nahawi, Alya Al Ansari, Alya Al Hosani, Ameena Al Ali, Asma Khoory, Cristiana De Marchi, Eman Al Hashemi, Jumaanah Alhashemi, Mohamed Khalid, Nadine Ghandour, Obaid Al Budoor, Sharifa Bin Horaiz, Taqwa Al Naqbi, Xeina Al Malki and Zayed Temash.
The opening of the show was followed by a panel discussion featuring several of the artists. Moderated by Melissa Gronlund, the talk focused on the value of constructive language as an integral tool in the artistic process. The show will remain at Warehouse421 until 4 November.
‘Redefining Space: Between Borders’ is a solo exhibition from renowned Lebanese photographer Camille Zakharia. His work explores themes of identity and belonging, with a focus on the social impact of evolving urban landscapes. Presented by Cuadro Fine Art Gallery, ‘Redefining Space: Between Borders’ is Abu Dhabi Art’s third gallery exhibition of this year. Visitors to Warehouse421 can view and purchase artwork from the show until 30 September.
Since its launch in November 2015, Warehouse421 has established itself as a dedicated supporter of emerging artists and an active participant in Abu Dhabi’s creative ecosystem. In addition to hosting exhibitions, the creative hub’s monthly programming provides the community with opportunities to engage with art and culture through a range of expert-led workshops, talks, film screenings and cultural activities.
